Billie Holiday, Anita O’Day, Lena Horne, Peggy Lee, Jo Stafford, Rosemary Clooney, Ella Fitzgerald, and others. Early in their careers, they were “canaries”—women singing with the great Big Bands of the era. And they all went on to solo careers where they developed their own sound and style.
Now Jazz at the Ballroom presents “Flying High: Big Band Canaries Who Soared.” With music direction by Champian Fulton, the line-up features some of the most celebrated, swinging jazz musicians on the scene today. Together we’re celebrating the music made famous by jazz canaries once they spread their wings!

Welcome to a traditional jazz concert in the beautiful Abrahamsberg Church on Epiphany, January 6 at 2 p.m.
End the Christmas holiday in the traditional way with a jazz concert together with saxophonist and clarinetist, also a resident of Bromma, Klas Lindquist. Björn Ingelstam joins on trumpet and from the USA, Champion Fulton on piano and vocals. In addition, a swinging rhythm section consisting of bass phenomenon Niklas Fernqvist and, from the successful band Stockholm Swing All stars, Mattias Puttonen on drums.
