Klas Lindquist, alto saxophonist, clarinetist and composer, was born in 1975 in Göteborg, Sweden.

He studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and at Mannes College of Music in New York City.

Klas is featured in bands such as The Stockholm Swing All Stars, The Stockholm Voices, The Champian Fulton Scandinavian Quartet and together with Swedish musicians like Ulf Johansson Werre, Mathias Algotsson, Karl Olandersson and Jan Lundgren. His nine-piece band, the Klas Lindquist Nonet, performs mainly original compositions. Their latest album, “Alternative Source of Energy”, released in 2023, was awarded “The Jazz Album of The Year” in Orkesterjournalen readers poll.

Klas´ achievments have been recognized around the world. He was awarded the prestigious “Golden Sax” from Swedish saxophone legend Arne Domnérus, and also the Alice Babs Award. His composition “The Genius” won first prize in the Brussels Jazz Orchestra International Composition Contest. The City of Stockholm has recognized his artistic contributions with the Stockholm Stads Kulturstipendium and he has also been recognized in his hometown, Göteborg, with an award from Sten A Olsson Foundation for Research och Culture.

Klas is in demand as a recording artist. He has appeared on over 40 albums as a featured soloist and four albums as a leader. Klas lives in Stockholm and continues to perform with the best artists around the world.

Recognized for his “technical brilliance, imagination and style”, Klas is considered one of “Sweden’s most exciting Jazz musicians” (Göteborgs-Posten). Recipient of the “The Golden Sax” award, “The Alice Babs Award” and “The Stockholm Stads Kulturstipendium”, Klas is a world-renowned ambassador of Jazz excellence.
