Klas Lindquist – musician and composer
Klas Lindquist was born in 1975 in Göteborg, Sweden, and plays the alto saxophone and clarinet. He has studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and at the Mannes College of Music in New York City. He has his own nine-piece band, the Klas Lindquist Nonet, that plays mainly compositions by Klas. He also plays in several other bands such as the Stockholm Swing All Stars, the Claes Janson Band and the Jan Slottenäs Orchestra.
In 2005 Klas received the prestigous "Golden Sax" award from the Swedish saxophone legend Arne Domnérus and just a few months later he recieved the Alice Babs Award. In 2006, he won first prize in the international big band composition contest, the BJOICC in Brussels, an event run by the Brussels Jazz Orchestra.
