Bio


Klas Lindquist, musician and composer/arranger is 31 years old. His instruments are altosaxophone and clarinet. He is originally from Göteborg in Sweden where he had his own nine-piece band, the Klas Lindquist Nonet. He also played in bands such as the Bohuslän Big Band, the Second Line Jazzband and in TV-shows. In 1997-98 Klas lived in New York City where he studied jazz and contemporary music at the Mannes College of music.

Year 2001 Klas moved to Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, to begin studies in composition and arranging at the Royal College of Music. Meanwhile he established himself in the musiclife of Stockholm.Year 2005 Klas received the prestigous "Golden Sax"-award from the Swedish saxophone legend Arne Domnérus and just a few months later he recieved the Alice Babs Award. He won the first prize in the international big band composition contest BJOICC 2006 in Brussels, an event run by the Brussels Jazz Orchestra.
